Sign Details
To make things as easy as possible for all of our valued clients, every mini-billboard rental also includes the graphic design, sample proof and production of your advertisement.
Our graphic designers will work closely with you to design your mini-billboard from start to finish. They will provide you a proof for your approval before the file goes to our production facility. Once the file is approved by the client and we have confirmation in writing, then and only then will the file be sent to production. It normally takes 3-4 business days to have your sign delivered into location once your sign has been sent to production so our turnaround time is second to none.
Regarding the initial images you supply us, we definitely prefer to start with the highest quality images possible. In most cases, we suggest that images between 1meg and 5meg work the best so that is the file size we try and start with each time we start a new design. The reason we want such large images and try not to use small pictures off of the internet or on business cards is that we eventually enlarge what you provide us to a graphic display area that is 5’x10’. We always want your sign to look outstanding and not to be pixilated or ‘fuzzy’ when the public sees your images on the street. Any images that are low quality to start with (40kb – 800kb) will only portray a very unsatisfactory image on the actual sign and neither one of us will be pleased with the final look of your sign. Our ultimate goal is always 100% customer satisfaction.

Files Needed
Our
graphic designers, although being very versatile, have chosen to work on Personal Computer (PC) Platforms. Acceptable files that can be used to develop your mini-billboard are as follows:
(Remember the higher the image quality the better the end result)
* .jpg
* .gif
* .eps
* .ai (Adobe Illustrator)
* .cdr (Corel Draw)
* .psd (Adobe Photoshop)
* .png
* .wmf
Logo Files
Any time you provide us your company logo, the best format to use is Vector Format.
What is a Vector Graphic. - Unlike JPEGs, GIFs, and BMP images, vector graphics are not made up of a grid of pixels. Instead, vector graphics are comprised of paths, which are defined by a start and end point, along with other points, curves, and angles along the way. A path can be a line, a square, a triangle, or a curvy shape. These paths can be used to create simple drawings or complex diagrams. Paths are even used to define the characters of specific typefaces.
Because vector-based images are not made up of a specific number of dots, they can be scaled to a larger size and not lose any image quality. If you blow up a raster graphic, it will look blocky, or "pixelated." When you blow up a vector graphic, the edges of each object within the graphic stay smooth and clean. This makes vector graphics ideal for logos, which can be small enough to appear on a business card, but can also be scaled to fill a billboard. Common types of vector graphics include Adobe Illustrator, Macromedia Freehand, and EPS files. Many Flash animations also use vector graphics, since they scale better and typically take up less space than bitmap images.
If
you are more comfortable using MacIntosh files, feel free to forward them on to us as well. We have no problem converting them to a file type that we are better suited to use and this won't prohibit us from getting a proof back to you very quickly.
If you have any questions, please contact our art department.
The Process
Before we begin designing your full-colour mini-billboard, we just need a few things from you to get started. If you click
here, (PDF) you can download a blank template
to work from.
Just write down, draw or paste your ideas to the template and fax it to the art department at1.306.586.6114.
To keep the process running smoothly and to get your sign up in a very timely manner, please assist us in the creation of your mini-billboard by supplying your company logo, product pictures or any other information and images you might have right at the start of the process. Remember, out time is your time and we want the creation of your sign to be seamless and very easy.
If
you do not have an electronic version of your
image(s), you may choose to either courier or mail a hardcopy to us. If there is a salesperson in your area, we will gladly arrange for them to be picked up as well. We also have our own FTP site available for files that are larger and for people very familiar with file transfer's via the internet.
If you or a third party will be designing your own sign please feel free to download any of these templates which will assist you in the set-up of your sign. Remember, if you do decide to use one of our templates, our signs all have rounded corners so please keep images and text at least 3" from all edges as there may be some trimming of the actual decal involved.
We are always looking for ways to improve our product and our processes, so if you do have any comments or suggestions about Postcard Portables and the way we do business, please email them to Jerred Huber
